Paraty is located at the Costa Verde (Green Coast), at 307 Km south of Rio de Janeiro and at 256 Km north of São Paulo. The port of Paraty was already the second in Brazil, due to its strategic location between the two most important cities of our country since the colonial years. Gold and sugar cane sub-products, like the pinga, or paraty as it was once known in Europe, to the coffee, during the product golden years (Ciclo do café). Paraty is also known as the “ Veneza Brasileira (Brazilian Venice), due to the fact that during the high tide, the ocean invades the streets, changing, for few hours, the way of life of its citizens, and the looks of this preserved historic city of Brazil, with the “Masonic” architecture, present in the many well preserved houses.
